Ordinarily I post news and information that is often light-hearted, newsy, funny, or deals with something going on in our lives. Sometimes something comes up that isn't any of these and I want to bring it to your attention. Both of these stories come from the San Francisco Chronicle.
First up is a man who starved his dogs to death. According to the story, 6 pekingese dogs were locked in cages in a house, had food witheld, and then died. My take on the story is the man is mentally disturbed but these dogs would have been easy to give away for adoption, especially in a place like San Francisco where spaces for large dogs are at a premium. Emphasize the word oily for his lawyer.
The second story is equally appalling. Two employees of PETA - People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals - were acquitted of charges stemming from the deaths of cats and dogs. Their modus operandi was to adopt animals from shelters, euthanize them, and dump the bodies in garbage bins. All in the name of relieving the animals' suffering. I didn't know they were renaming it to sick bastards PETA - People who are Extremely Twisted And_delusional.
